Intro to knife-craft

£45.00 Sold Out

Come and spend a half-day learning the basics behind knife-craft in the tradition of sloyd; head, hands and knife - no machinery required. In this half-day course you'll be introduced to the tools, materials and techniques to get started on your journey 'whittling' - the perfect course to try before committing to a full day of spoons! This course is intended for beginners, as we'll start with the basics.

On the day we'll squeeze in a look at examples, knowledge and samples of wood types and where to source raw material, various tools from basic to more elaborate, and of course the hands-on techniques to get you started on your whittling journey. You should leave feeling safe, knowledgeable, inspired and hopefully relaxed from a spell in our beautiful woodland workshop.

All tools needed are provided. If you have acquired your own, you're very welcome to bring them along too. Needless to say, what you make is yours to take home.

Tea/coffee is provided, plus some home baking (usually gluten free, but not nut/egg/dairy free, and not vegan).

This course is intended for adults; please get in touch to discuss younger participants. We do offer other similar courses for youngsters - please have a look at our Upcoming Courses.
